Order of Worship

Entrance Ramps:
None this week.

Main Points:
Purpose defined - That which a person sets before themselves as an object, aim or goal to be reached or accomplished... an outcome that is intended and guide your actions.

Purpose in 3 Simple Steps

The Great Commandment - Jesus was asked, "Teacher what is the greatest commandment in the law?"  Jesus replied with Matthew 22:34-40

It is from this commandment that we get the first two steps to having a life driven by purpose:

Step One: Love the Lord
Step Two: Love others

The Great Calling - Matthew 28:19-20
When we commit ourselves to the first two steps, then we are ready to take the third step:

Step Three: Change the World

Staying in Step on Purpose

Acts 2:42-47

Stay in step with real Worship - (v. 42, 43, 46, 47)
Stay in step with real Fellowship - (v. 42, 44, 46)
Stay in step with real Discipleship - (v. 42)
Stay in step with real Ministry - (v. 44-45)

Passage:
Matt 22:34-40
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together.
35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:
36 "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
37 Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."
(NIV)

Matt 28:19-20
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.""
(NIV)

Acts 2:42-47
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.
43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the apostles.
44 All the believers were together and had everything in common.
45 Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need.
46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,
47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
(NIV)
