From touchandchange.com Devotions What do you think when you read the following….. Today is the first day of a dream come true! Do you believe it? Do you think about life that way? Dreamers do…..a dreamer sees each and every moment as a moment that takes and brings them one step closer to their dreams. I would suggest to you that today for each of us is the first day of a dream come true if we decide it is going to be. You might be wondering what kind of dreams I am talking about. That is fair….I suppose it could be any kind of dream, but for a Christian, I believe that our dream, our goal, and our purpose and passion should be to become all God has called us to be. The reason that this a such an amazing dream is because it is the only dream and goal that ends with us finding a fulfillment and lasting satisfaction in these brief moments of life. We have been thinking about Dr. Horatio Nelson Jackson and his dream of driving across America in 1903. I think it is interesting that when Jackson got into the “spirited discussion” about whether the “horseless carriage was going to last” he was so passionate about it that he was willing to wager the automobile could make it across America. He boldly declared that it could be done and he would do it! Lets stop the story here for a moment. Jackson was going to have to follow up this dare by going out and buying a car, learning to drive it, finding some help for the trip, and then rescheduling his life for the next three months. Some would say that was a crazy wager to make. But recognize that he made the bold declaration based upon a belief that he held in his heart that he knew to be true. It was not a belief based on some experience that he had in the past driving cars but instead a belief based on what he saw as the future of what could be. That is the stuff of dreamers! When Jesus looks at me…he doesn’t see a tragically flawed sinner, He died to forgive that. He sees the unlimited potential and possibility wrapped up in this package of my person. A person He has given worth, gifts, purpose, and a calling. That gives me the freedom to risk, dare, and try to become more than I am, more than I could hope for, and gives me the freedom to dream about what it is that God might want to do with me…then trust Him to take me on the journey to get there. Today is the first day of dream come true….when we decide to be serious about becoming all God has called us to be! © Copyright 2003 by CCC Ministries |
