How can you forgive someone who has really hurt you?
Posted by Rev. Jeff Dixon, Senior Equipping Minister at Covenant Community Church on Nov 1, 2000, 19:28

By remembering that God forgives us. And when it comes to is forgiveness, it covers everything. All of our sins are forgiven. Even the "bad" ones! (Romans 8:1)

Obviously, all sin is bad, but when it comes to us forgiving others it is tough. In thinking about the question I want to be truthful. Forgiveness doesn't come quickly or easy for us. Read Matthew 6:14-15, human forgiveness is not the basis or standard of God's forgiveness. Yet, the way we forgive is a reflection of the grace He has given to us.

Let me share with you a principle: You can't forgive until you've been forgiven. God forgives, we should forgive as well. When someone does something to hurt you, holding a grudge is tough to control, but refusing to do something about it is the real problem.
