Awkward Perspective

Awkward Christian Soldiers

It is a brand new week and we are winding down the stories of some of the strange things that people do or say at church. Our story today comes from Arizona, here is what A.Z. had to share.....

Martha, the custodian at our church is a real tyrant. Everyone fears her wrath, including our pastor. No one dares to track in dirt, rearrange hymnals, or do anything else without seeking her approval.

One day my daughter was telling me what she wanted to do when she grew up, "I want to be a pastor Mom" I shared with her how difficult it is for women in ministry. After some discussion she decided that maybe being a pastor was not what she would do. It was then she declared that she would be an elder. I regretfully told her that in our denomination female elders aren't allowed.

She once again grew silent. After being very thoughtful she began to brighten up. In a moment her spirits were much brighter...."Okay, then I'll be a custodian like Martha. She runs the church anyway."

From the perspective of a child we see things in a different like.

I think it is interesting that Jesus tells us that we are to have a child like faith...not a childish faith, but a child like faith. That is a faith full of wonder and awe, where each and every day is an adventure waiting to unfold.

Open your eyes this day and thank God for the adventure that awaits

The adventure continues....
