Eye Exam
I Want To See God But Something
Keeps Getting In The Way

Jesus said, "I come that you might have life, and that it might be awesome" (John 10:10 paraphrase)

But sometimes my spiritual life isn't so awesome. So either Jesus wasn't telling the truth or I've got some sort of problem following Jesus like I am supposed to follow.

Considering that Jesus is the One who knew no sin, I must rule out the possibility that Christ's statement in John 10:10 was a lie or even a evangelical exaggeration. That leaves me basking in a blinding glimpse of the obvious-that I am the one responsible for the mediocrity that meanders into my spiritual life at times.

Truth be told I want to see God. I want to see Him clearly, follow Him completely, and live the life I was created to live. I want to dream dreams, I want to believe, I want to be active in the pursuit of following Him, I want to discover my destiny, and all of those other things I have learned at church! But sometimes...I just don't see God so clearly.

Maybe you have felt this way...if so, then this is going to be a refreshing series in Celebration Worship for you. We are getting ready to take an eye exam and discover what is getting in the way of you seeing God in a crystal clear way so that you can live the life you are created to live.

Bobbleheads In My Bifocals

I want to see Jesus, but honestly,

I am not always sure what He looks like.

If we are going to live the life we were created to live then we need to make sure we are following Jesus. The problem for many is that we have tried to pick and choose the kind of Savior we want to follow.
In this edition of the Eye Exam we take focus on what we need to know about Jesus so that we can see Him more clearly.

 (Matthew 13:44-46)

Now What?!? : After experiencing the study ask yourself the following questions

1) Are you willing to see the entire treasure-or-are you content with a trinket from God?

2) Are you seriously searching for God-or-are you really looking for a quick fix to your problems?

3) Is your sight driven by a desire from within your soul-or-are you coming at God with your own agenda?

How good is your focus?
Look at the image below. What do you see?
Are you seeing coffee beans or do you see someone looking back at you?

Look closely
In the lower left hand side of the picture you might just see a face in the beans. Learning to focus is essential for transformational living!

Hunting Bigfoot With A Marshmallow Shooter

Oh yes, the abundant life sounds great. But more often than not it feels like a myth, something that others have seen and discovered, but every time I go looking it is just too elusive and I can't find it!
 (Matthew 16:21-23)

In this installment of the Eye Exam series we go hunting Bigfoot with a marshmallow shooter! well, sort of...we actually begin thinking about the way we approach life and how we view the world. Along the way we laugh a bit, duck marshmallows, and most importantly come face to face with Jesus in a moving portrait painted in Scripture.

Film From the CCC Vault!

Ah, lets open up the CCC Vault for a "classic" Bigfoot illustration
Now remember when you watch that this is long before Jeff Dixon started "enhancing" his hair color with white. In spite of the hair it is a great illustration on how we deal with others and how we as followers choose to live our lives

I Can Juggle Chainsaws On A Tightrope If I Want To!

The trouble that I have with following God sometimes is that He seems to get in the way of me doing what I want to do. Come on! Life is short, shouldn't I be able to do what I want to do when I want to do it? I am fine with faith but it is tough to squeeze it all into my busy schedule.
 (Matthew 5:3-11)

I Can Juggle Chainsaws On A Tightrope If I Want To!
Life is short so shouldn't we be happy and do what we want to do?

Not a bad question when you think about it. Most people live life chanting the mantra "It's My Life!" As a result we try to live our lives and keep adding more and more stuff that we have to juggle trying to keep our life on balance. Before long we feel like we are juggling chainsaws on a tightrope. It is probably not the smartest thing to be doing, but hey...we can do what we want!

Sadly, this type of existence will leave you empty, drained, and worn out. In this installment of our Eye Exam series we discover how a little bit of focus will help us ease up and make living a whole lot better!

There Is A Will In My Way

We are trying to focus in this series of Celebration worship experiences. Some are trying very hard to focus on God's will for their lives. Sadly we can be so focused that we have trouble figuring it out. We try to solve the problems by trying even harder and we get frustrated because it just doesn't seem to work!

Give me a break! God wants me to know His will...right?!?

If you have ever wondered about God's will for your life then this is a refreshing, frank, and honest look at what we need to know about finding and living out God's plan for each of us.

Don't Disturb Me, I'm Disturbed Enough Already

Don't bother me with this whole idea of following Jesus. I have seen the people who follow Him and I don't really like them very much. They are kinda weird and that is one of the nicer things I can say about them.

Don't Disturb Me, I'm Disturbed Enough Already
This is so important. When you begin to focus on Jesus something starts to happen. You change and begin to live differently.

I Have To Procrastinate Right Away

I will follow Jesus but right now I am doing just fine. I will get around to it later.

I Have To Procrastinate Right Away
Living for Jesus and this whole concept of having an abundant life...it sounds great! But (anytime you read the word 'but' look out!) I think I will wait until later to start living that way.

Sounds silly doesn't it? Yet, that is exactly the decision that too many people have made as they follow Jesus.
