Pursuit
Posted by Rev. Jeff Dixon, Senior Equipping Minister, Covenant Community Church on Jan 4, 2009, 20:04

Living a life of following Jesus is the life that you were created to live. Sometimes, as we have all discovered, following God is not always easy...now remember, He is not trying to make it difficult...but simply because He moves quicker, in ways we don't understand, and in new directions...there are lots of moments that we feel like we are catching up or chasing Him.

So welcome to the series as we begin our pursuit of God...are you in?

Week 1 - Do Angels Yawn

In this session we ponder that deeply theological question, we examine inverted Christianity, humdrum humanity, circumstantial uncertainty, and the call to adventure...whew! There is a lot to cover in this opening session, so get ready and let the adventure begin.

Week 2- Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude

In this session we take an honest look at whether or not you are stuck in a spiritual rut...and how there really is just one decision to make if you are going to break the routine and allow your faith to "come alive"

The answer is deeply spiritual, although it may not sound like it...

The solution? Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, and Nothing Remains Quite The Same!

Week 3- Knocking Holes In The Ceiling

Ever desire to follow God and become what He created you to be...only to find yourself frustrated, wandering, and confused? Well, trust us...you aren't the only person ever to have felt that way.

In this session of our series on Pursuing God we explore how we can peel away some of the assumptions we make that trap us and keep us from the adventure that we are called to live....

Get ready to knock some holes in the ceiling!

Week 4 - Crowing Over Failure

Calling all failures!!!
If you have ever failed and are willing to admit it, then this celebration worship experience is for you. In this event we explore a topic that all of us can relate to...failure.

Sadly, many people allow their failure to forever define them. But that doesn't have to be the case. Not only can you move beyond your failure...you can discover freedom from guilt...and the excitement of living the life you were created to live...

Are you ready to "let it go?"
After all..."It is in the past..."

Let's start crowing over failure!

Week 5 - Shipwrecks and Snakebites Can Leave You Disoriented

Your best plans have crumbled, you don't really know what is supposed to happen next, everything you thought you understood has been turned upside down, and you are totally confused and more than just a little bit disoriented!!!!

Life does unfold that way at times. So in those moments you have a choice...will you panic - or - will you allow God to to lead you?

The question sounds simple but we all know it is easy to say much harder to live. However, when your world has turned into nothing but one disaster after another it might be your best opportunity to follow God. The pursuit series continues with another encouraging look at what God's Word teaches us when we have failed and life has failed us.

Week 6 - Can I Be Held Responsible For My Irresponsibility?

All of us have responsibilities. All of us have obligations. All of us have a laundry list of things we do because they are right, expected, and needed. But what happens when doing the good things, the "right" things, and the expected things keep you from doing the thing that God has called you to do.

Now hold on! You might be thinking, "is that possible? Could it be that all of the important and responsible stuff I have filled my life with might be keeping me from God?"

As amazing and stunning as it sounds...the answer might be YES. In this challenged next edition of the Pursuit series it is time to take an inventory of your life and make sure that you are not just doing time but really living the life God has called you to live. If you are not, it is time to make some changes...it might seem irresponsible, but it is the only responsible thing to do!

Week 7 - MOVE!!!

In the series called Pursuit we have been covering some huge ideas about living the life that God created you to live. It all sounds good but when we come face to face with real life it is very easy to start thinking that we just can't do it!

This celebration worship experience gives you a chance to catch your breath and tells you what to do with all that you have been hearing...

You can join the pursuit!

Week 8- God-Given Guts!

Too many people have settle into living life by default instead of by Divine Design. In this final installment in the Pursuit series we discover the one last element of chasing and pursuing the will of God for your life...that last element is "good-old-fashioned-GUTS!"

In this honest, refreshing, and hopeful celebration worship experience we come face to face with taking a personal "gut-check" to see if we are willing to pursue God.
