Discovering Destiny
The Next Step (Installment Two)
How Do I Find God’s Direction Today?
In discovering our destiny there is certainly a need for following the direction that God has for each of us. So the question is how do you find it today, in this day and age, in this culture, in the world you live in?
I could list a number of ways that God leads us today, but let me list some of the ways that He constantly works and lead in the lives of many…
Second, God leads through the inner prompting of the Holy Spirit
Philippians 2:13 : …for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and work for His good pleasure
Paul is writing this letter and is saying to the readers, put your head in the game, think it through, be serious about it, and start walking with God. For it is God, through His Spirit that is working in you. That is also what prompts him to say in the very next verse (v.14) “Do all things without grumbling or disputing.”
We must learn to listen and respond to the Spirit as He leads us.
Now that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t plan things. Planning is fine. Nothing wrong with going over the list of pros and cons in any given situation. There is nothing wrong with keeping a detailed day calendar or some electronic gizmo to keep your schedule all together. But as you are moving through life remember to stay sensitive to the quiet, yet essential prompting of God.
It is always easier to steer a moving car. Just get the car rolling and you can push it into the filling station to get gas. But it is hard to get moving from a dead stop. So get moving…do something…but as you are rolling along remember to follow the GPS (The God Positioning System) inside of you to nudge you, tell you to turn, give you an alternate route, and change your course.
In Proverbs it says, “Man’s steps are ordained by the Lord, how then can man understand his way?” I just love that…when it is all said and done there are times you just can’t figure it out and you will have to conclude, it must have been God at work.
Talk about mysterious.
The longer you live the Christian life you may not understand why He leads as He does, but you can rest in the fact that He does lead…
Allow His Spirit to speak to you….
Be looking for the next installment as you continue to unlock your destiny
