21 Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the
princes of Moab.
22 But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in
the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two
servants were with him.
23 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a
drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat
her to get her back on the road.
24 Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two
vineyards, with walls on both sides.
25 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the
wall, crushing Balaam's foot against it. So he beat her again.
26 Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place
where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.
27 When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam,
and he was angry and beat her with his staff.
28 Then the LORD opened the donkey's mouth, and she said to Balaam,
"What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?"
29 Balaam answered the donkey, "You have made a fool of me! If I had
a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now."
30 The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your own donkey, which you
have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to
you?" "No," he said.
31 Then the LORD opened Balaam's eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD
standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell
32 The angel of the LORD asked him, "Why have you beaten your donkey
these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a
reckless one before me.
33 The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had
not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would
have spared her."
34 Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, "I have sinned. I did not
realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are
displeased, I will go back."
35 The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, "Go with the men, but speak
only what I tell you." So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

|The Next Step
Thanks for joining me on the Next Step.
This past week in Celebration Worship we finished up our Animal Planet
Series. Over the course of the three weeks we made some interesting
First, in the story of Elisha and the Bears we saw that God takes very
seriously the way you act concerning Him. Sometimes we need to remember
the importance of taking God seriously.
The following week we saw in the story of the snake bite on Malta that God
had used what were some very tough circumstances to bring Paul to the
place where the people were ready to hear what Paul had to say. God does
some amazing things in the tough spots of our lives to bring us to the
place where He most wants to use us.
Then this week we made some observations that revolved around a
"talking donkey". If you haven't listened or watched the study
yet, please take the time to do so. One of the simple lessons we
discovered is that if God can use a talking donkey, He can sure use
you...with that in mind, here are a few simple reminders of some things
that we need to do to keep our focus and sights set on God.
1. Wake Up !!
Decide to have a good day.
"Today is the day the Lord hath made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it."
2. Dress Up !!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile.
A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
"The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.
Man looks at outward appearance;
but the Lord looks at the heart."
I Samuel 16:7
3. Shut Up!!
Say nice things and learn to listen.
God gave us two ears and one mouth,
so He must have meant for us to do
twice as much listening as talking.
"He who guards his lips guards his soul."
4. Stand Up!!...
For what you believe in.
Stand for something or you will fall for anything.
"Let us not be weary in doing good; for at the proper time,
we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good..."
5. Look Up !!...
To the Lord.
"I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me".
6. Reach Up !!...
For something higher.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways, acknowledge Him,
and He will direct your path."
7. Lift Up !!...
"Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT
There are others, but wow, if you could do these..imagine the kind of day
you would have. Have a great week and make plans to join us next week in
Celebration Worship as we look at Mysteries that defy and explanation.
Blessings to you and thanks for being willing to take the Next Step
