You can read more about the Priory of Sion on this website as you explore the “Facts of the DaVinci Code.” But here are some things you might want to know….

The Priory of Sion was founded in or around 1956 by Pierre Plantard and Andre Bonohomme. Plantard began writing a manuscript and produced “parchments” (created by his friend Philippe de Cherisey) that a local priest had supposedly discovered while renovating his church. These forged documents reportedly showed the survival of the Merovingian line of Frankish kings.

Now hold on and pause at this point. The lines written above very clearly lay out a storyline that is created to deceive. Yet this is ignored and legends and background that try to produce the myth that Jesus and Mary were something different than what we find in Scripture all begin with this story. Which of course is not true. You will hear that the priest who found them became unexpectedly wealthy and his church became wealthy. You will also find some bizarre discoveries made in this church. Again, this is all good works of fiction. The real life priest became wealthy not because he found secret document and parchments, but because he was corrupt and doing some very un-Christlike things…but that is another story. But suffice it to say that this is the story backdrop for the so-called “historians” that claim to write both fiction and non-fiction based upon this “real history.” The history is legend and created to deceive at that.

Between 1961 and 1984 Plantard contrived a mythical pedigree of the Priory of Sion. This can easily be proven to be historical FICTION because the various claims in the Priory Documents never existed before the 1960s in any way, shape, or form and cannot be substantiated by any historical records. Furthermore, letters in existence dating from the 1960s written by Pierre Plantard, Philippe de Cherisey and Gerard de Sede to each other confirm that the three were engaging in an out and out scam, describing schemes on how to combat criticisms of their various allegations and how they would keep making up new allegations and new discoveries to keep the whole lie going. A list of grand masters including Leonardo DaVinci dating all the way back to the Knights Templar give the historical time line of the Priory (of course this was all made up)

The Order protects the bloodline of the Merovingian dynasty because they are the literal descendants of Jesus and his wife Mary Magdalene.

The Order is sworn to protect and one day restore the dynasty to the thrones of both Europe and Jerusalem.

The Catholic Church tried to kill off this dynasty and their guardians, the Templars, in order to maintain power through the apostolic succession of Peter instead of the hereditary leader who should have been Mary Magdalene.

As you read this you can see the potential of a great book. It eventually became the basis for the book Holy Blood, Holy Grail. However, and this is very important…real and serious historians didn’t think it was such a great book with it’s ancient history dating all the way back to the ancient 1960s. However while it makes for lousy non-fiction, the story-teller Dan Brown has made it a masterful work of fiction.
